They’re Just Scamming You!!!

playing eve? hauling something through highsec and got ganked, and then someone contacted you, offering your stuff back? maybe they’ve got some story about how there was a procedural issue and you were supposed to be offered a chance to buy your way out, and as an apology they’re going to reimburse you? or maybe they’re specifically blaming the event on a rogue ganker, and they’re asking you for details for their incident report?

or maybe they’re trying to sell you a ‘license’ or ‘premium contract’ or some such, to avoid getting ganked in the future?

or maybe they’ve got you warp scrambled, and down into hull, and now they’re offering to let you go if you transfer them a few billion isk, or some assets, or something similar?

do not be fooled. it is a scam.

anything you give them, they are simply going to keep. then they will ask for more. then they will blow you up.

they will play up their semi-ironic half-trolling “guardian of healthy gameplay” role to convince you to give them your mining ships. then, the sunk cost fallacy will pressure you to continue when suddenly they say they need more from you.

they will literally bring you to Jita and hand you skill extractors and ask you for all of your skill points, and make it sound absolutely normal, if you let them.

they will look through your entire asset pool and slowly come up with reasons why every single item of worth needs to be contracted to them, before they will definitely give you your items back, no fooling, you can trust us.

don’t let them. don’t be fooled. whatever you give them is gone, whatever ship they have scrammed is already dead, whatever appealing escape route they carefully show you is a trap. cut your losses and walk away right now.
